Case Study: Stronger Brand Connection With Long Form Video
In March last year, our team at Picture Perfect Productions wrapped up a remarkable project: a branded documentary for broadcast and digital platforms, created in partnership with NBC and their incredible client. The project, which featured a 16-minute long-form video for broadcast and a shorter cut downs for digital platforms, highlighted the sprawling beauty and dynamic stories of Ocean City in Vietnam.
WHAT We Did
This ambitious production required meticulous planning and seamless execution across borders. From pre-production in Singapore, where our creative and logistical groundwork was laid, to an intense four-day shoot in Vietnam (inclusive of a recce day), and finally, post-production back in Singapore, the project showcased the best of what cross-border collaboration can achieve.

With four diverse profiles to cover—ranging from a family and a business entrepreneur to an educator and a Vin representative—the documentary brought together talent from multiple countries. From our Executive Producer Andrew and DoP Jason Wong in Singapore to the skilled local crew in Vietnam led by Line Producer Ashley, this was truly a merging of creative forces.

One Tip about profiles and scripting: Make sure to research your profiles thoroughly so you know what to script for them. It is the producer’s job to ensure that the profiles stick to the core messaging.
WHERE We Did It
Spanning the vast expanse of Ocean City—including Ocean Park 1, 2, and 3—the scale of the shoot presented unique challenges. But thanks to meticulous planning, innovative problem-solving, and a shared creative vision, we delivered a stunning piece of branded content that captured the essence of this vibrant community.

Long-form documentary filmmaking requires ALOT of shots to fill up the slot.
Due to the size of the location and the short time frame (3 days to shoot! Crazy but nothing is impossible for Picture Perfect Productions), we broke the crew into teams to ensure efficient coverage. We had 3 teams to conquer the shoot effectively:
- Interview team – Client, Director, DoP, Sound, Grips & Camera Assistant
- On-ground broll team – EP + cameraman
- Aerial broll team – Line producer + drone pilot
One Tip about managing tight schedules: Effective allocation of crew and resources – we understand the strengths of each crew member and assign based on skill set. For Broll teams, we kept a lean crew allowing for agile movement between sets.
Piecing Together A Long Form Video
As the production wrapped, the toughest part seemed behind us—or was it? We then headed back to sunny Singapore for the post-production phase, where the magic of editing brought everything together.
Post-production presented its own set of challenges. Guided by a clear style reference, we began with an “Assembly Edit,” ensuring interviews captured across multiple locations were arranged in the right sequence and conveyed the story effectively. We also reviewed the run time of the interviews at this stage, so that we could have a rough estimate of the full video when we add in the B-roll.
One Tip about assembly edit in post: Using an Assembly Edit with the clients before adding b-roll, music, animation, can ensure that we have the foundation for a compelling narrative. Once this is approved, it’ll be smooth sailing to the finish line!
At Picture Perfect Productions, we believe in the importance of a structured feedback and revision protocol during post-production. By outlining the method, timing, and stakeholders involved, we streamlined the process, reduced stress, and ensured every creative decision aligned with the project’s goals. This collaborative approach allowed us to transform hours of footage into a polished, compelling piece of long form video content that resonated with the audience.
